

Now, when I do this notice how all of these little vertices pop up. I'm going to start with control vertex and that's really where this particular curve is defined. Now this marking menu is different than the polygonal modeling menu we had which would have things like vertices edges and faces, but for a nerves curve, we have what's called a control vertex, curve points and hauls. So if I right click above it, you'll see we get a marking menu. It will not render in Maia but it will show up in the view port and you can use it to help define other types of objects. Now this circle is essentially just a shape.

And let's go ahead and left-click and drag and drag out a circle. So I'm going to switch on interactive creation and select a nerves circle. So we have, for example, a circle, which we can also use. Now a lot of these are what are called nerve surfaces which are patch based surfaces comprised of curves but we're just going to focus on the curves themselves. Also under the create menu we have curved tools as well as nerves primitives. If we go to curves surfaces on our shelf, you'll see we have a number of tools here to create curves. We can create curves in Maia in a couple of different places. So let's take a look at how to create some basic curves as well as the components that comprise those curves. In Maia curves can be used for a lot of different applications, including modeling and animation.
